Mood Board Analysis

For our inspiration for our mood board we looked at nature and artists similar to our chosen genre (folk) such as the Lumineers and Mumford and Sons. We also looked at a quote by a successful folk musician, woody Guthrie, talking about his guitar. 

"This machine kills fascists." - Woody Guthrie

This quote is important to folk music as folk music has had strong links with liberation and civil rights/labour movements. Folk music has also consisted of several protest songs, fighting for the above reasons.

Our Mood board represents our theme as our theme is nature. Our mood board contains images of trees and natural images and colourings. Our colour scheme tends to be dark and natural colours such as greens and browns. This theme represents our band as the band is folk and the music videos of folk music tend to have a focus on nature.

The colour choices allows the audience to be connected to the band as they will think of the colours and relate them to the band due to the genre of the music that the band creates. 

The most important image on our mood board is the image of the lyrics to our chosen song, ‘Trees’. This is the most significant image as all our ideas are based around these lyrics; they inspire our whole video. The lyrics gives an impression of nature, trees and climbing; our music video will reflect our opinion of what the artist is trying to say and the setting will be rural. Using this setting, we have come up with the ideas of using acoustic instruments and trees as props for our video. 

We will use this setting and these props to give the music video a theme of nature which will match the song. The way we plan to make this work for example, when the lyrics say about climbing trees we plan to have a character running through trees and nature and then climbing a tree. 

 

Hopefully, the audience’s reaction will be amazement at the plot of the video and awe at the setting of our video. I would also like to get them to get a sense of the adventure; maybe even make them want to adventure.

The Mood Board will help with the production of our video as it contains loads of different ideas and inspirations. This will help because we can just look at our mood boards and use the ideas.

Next time, what I’d do differently is try and organise the images more so most of it is easier to see and the more important images would be more visible, making it clearer for ourselves.

 

This is our final Mood Board.
To improve we could have covered the background instead of leaving blank spaces (however we could use this to our advantage as the colour of the background matches our theme as it is green). A good thing about our mood board is that we have written things onto it as well, to give more inspiration and ideas when we look back at it.
