Institutions and Audiences

Institutions involved in music promos UK:

There are several different institutions within television that are involved within music promotions within the United Kingdom such as MTV (Music Television).

The role of these institutions is to promote music videos of artists for the sole purpose of entertainment.

These different institutions cater a niche for certain audiences. For example MTV was originally made for young adults as the music genre was directed at them, but over time it’s audience has expanded from just young adults to young adults and adolescents; the music may vary from pop to just popular tunes. Another institution could be Kerrang who cater a niche for audiences who love rock music.

Our music video could be exhibited on a channel like 4music as this channel covers various genres and also try to show new and upcoming artists like our band will be. 4music also plays a lot of folk music (the genre of our music) such as ‘Mumford and Sons’ and the ‘Lumineers’.

The channel’s audience matches that of our own ‘band’ as their audience varies from quite young to quite old and from likers of folk to likers of pop music.
