Feedback

Post-16 Feedback Form

Focus:
29.12.13
Research and Planning (12/20 = Level 3)
Strengths:
1.      Good time management skills.
2.      Good evidence of drafting both your digipak and your magazine advertisement.
3.      You have researched different font types but not sizes.
4.      You have started to show the necessary connections between the digipak and magazine advertisement with some conventions of form being covered.
Areas for improvement:
1.      Ensure all tasks are uploaded as you cannot leave a level 2 whilst it is incomplete. Your final magazine advertisement / digipak is missing.
2.      A wider range of ICT programmes could have been used.
3.      Your font research should have been more detailed, including the importance of size.
4.      Your own photographs are needed with posts to show how you are editing your own photographs to suit your magazine advertisement and digipak.
Resulting Actions  (student response):

1) In future, use a wider range of IT skills
2) Start practising and editing my own photos

Focus:
29.12.13
Print
Level 2
Strengths:

1.      Some evidence of cropping and re-sizing when planning.
2.      Your mise-en-scene is appropriate to both the task and your genre in the image you found on the Internet – you have mentioned target audience to show the appropriateness of your planning.
3.      You have attempted to integrate your text into your image on the magazine advertisement.
4.      Some research into existing products with detailed commentary as well as some templates to show your intention.

Peer feedback

 Peer-Assessment Feedback Form

Focus:

Level: 3                            Mark: 12
What Went Well:

You have completed the majority of posts required for research and planning to a very high standard, with detailed analysis and clear structure of what is going on in the process of your production to the music video digipak and magazine advertisement. This is why I gave it a level 3 instead of level 2, because the work you have done is proficient J I also like that you’ve done a lot of research and have incorporated different types of ICT onto your blog such as YouTube discussions/videos, slideshare presentations and images.

Even Better If:

A lot of the images you’ve posted onto your blog don’t show, I don’t know why but that needs to be sorted out and a lot of posts we were meant to complete as part of research and planning aren’t on there, but I’m sure you’ll get that done in good time.

Resulting Actions  (student response):

-          Start fixing the images on my blog.

How my digipak will link with my magazine advert

My digipak will link with the magazine advert I am creating as they are both based around nature, with a focuson trees. The images of the trees will link in with the title of the digipak 'trees'.
I don't want the digipak and magazine adverts to be souly based on nature, I still want it to have a slight focus on people so I plan to have people in the background of both the digipak and the magazine advert.

Practise Magazine advert - attempt 2 (different font colour)

This is my second attempt of a music magazine advert after changing the colour of the font so that it stands out more.

Magazine advert - attempt 2

This is my second attempt at creating a magazine advert for a digigipak. I quite like this idea. My only problem is that it is hard to understand the writing as it blends in with the background.

My first attempt at a magazine digipak advert

This is my first practise attempt at creating a Magazine advert for my digipak, 'Trees' by The Oh Hellos.
I tried sticking to my original template plan

2nd attempt at designing a digipak cover

This is my second attempt at a digipak cover for my fictional album 'Trees' by The Oh Hellos.
This has been made based on suggestions from my teacher.

A practise at creating a digipak cover

Though this is far from perfect, it is still a practise.
After having a practise, I decided that the tempus sans font makes the digipak look very amateur so I have decided not to use this font for the title of the digipak - so instead of having the font looking like a tree, I'm just going to put it in a folk style font (such as cooper black).
With the name of the band, I've decided to not have the outer glow of the writing as this also makes the cover look amateur and the effect of the font is lost.

The image is not my own, I used it as it is similar to the sort of image I would like for my cover.

Digipak design ideas

These are my original designs and ideas for the inside of my digipak.
I would like the background to be an image of a blue sky with clouds.
The actual discs will be images of trees without any leaves, just bare branches.
In the middle section of the digipak, I would like to have leaves flying through the air and to have a higly rated review (like the one shown above) to show how good the band are.
In the sleeve of the digipak I would include messages from the band with a book containing the song lyrics on the album.
These are my original designs and ideas for a digipak cover.
The image I'd like to use is either the band, or just people sat under trees. I'd like this as it will represent the album name 'Trees'. It will represent this as it shows images of trees.
The reason I'd like people to be sat leaning against the trees is to give the cover a bit of warmth and humanity to it, rather than it be souly focussed on nature.

The blank page will just be an image which the audience can look at: this bit can be a bit where they just admire the nature and the photography.

Font ideas for digipak cover

For the group's name I'd like to use the font 'Castellar'. It will look like this:

For the album name 'Tempus Sans ITC'. It will look like this:

Recreating a digipak

This is the cover of the digipak 'The First Days of Spring' by Noah and the Whale.

This is my first attempt at recreating it with the same image on photoshop.

Project Pitch for digipak and magazine advert

Post-16 Feedback Form

Focus:
Pitch Feedback
Strengths:
1.      A much more professional presentation with strong links to genre, audience, font etc.
2.      Ideas of your generic layout for your digipak as well as an analysis of existing products.
3.      Excellent level of detailed ideas as well as alternative options to use when planning.
Areas for improvement:
1.      You said ‘urm…’ quite a lot – try to be fluent when presenting.
2.      More visuals could have been used instead of just templates of ideas.
3.      Explicit links should be made to show how your digipak and magazine advert match.
Resulting Actions  (student response):

-          Don’t say ‘urm’ so much in future pitches: make it more fluent and professional looking.
